Signed print to go with Bach's Suite #4 in E-flat Major. 10" x 10" print on card stock.
Over time items break apart, decay, and lose their accuracy or usability and yet we hold onto them long after their “usefulness” has ended. “Relics” attempts to give these objects a life beyond their expected length as well as serve as a pedestal to honor their usefulness and the lived experiences of their former owners.
The rough texture/backdrop provided by palette knives and gesso are like ripples in the water, showing the shockwaves that emanate from our feet hitting the ground, a sonic boom that is emitted by the movement of a second hand, and the ripples of a single word as it tears through the air.
These daily objects are vessels for people’s lived experiences that have helped us as humans. These ripples frozen in gesso are our actions and reactions to daily life occurrences and is a mirror to reflect upon.
